Role Call: Meet Concierge of the Year, Rosa Rosario of SLS South Beach

October 18, 2016
Written by: Yasha Wallin

Rosa Rosario is no stranger to winning awards. During her time at Morgans Hotel Group, she was constantly nominated for employee of the month and the year. So it came as little surprise–albeit very well deserved—when the Miami native was awarded Concierge of the Year at SLS South Beach by the Southern Florida Concierge Association this September. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have Rosario in the sbe family. To learn more about the woman that makes SLS guests feel like they’re receiving the white glove experience, we caught up with her here.

How did you get your start with sbe?
I saw the significant amount of growth the company has undergone in such a short time, and it sparked my interest. I decided to apply and was lucky to have been offered a position within a company that provides so much room to grow.

What do you love most about working in the hospitality industry?
The many different people I’m fortunate to meet, and the things I learn from various guests and their culture. It’s somewhat like traveling the world, but you’re right at home. It’s all about the relationships you establish with guests. I love being part of someone’s flawless home-away-from-home experience.

Any funny stories from your time at sbe so far?
During our Hurricane Matthew scare, I hosted “Game Night” in Sam’s Lounge for guests that stayed with us during the storm. While I was teaching some of our UK visitors to play Uno, a parade of other guests in random, hilarious costumes, passed by to get to Dragon Lounge. There were superheroes, cops, religious icons, etc. The guests playing in Sam’s Lounge had a huge laugh and mixed in with the costume party to socialize and play games. What an awesome/silly moment to have been a part of!

When not at work, where can we find you?
My go-to spot and my haven after a long day, or just a night out with friends, is a little place called Lagniappe. It’s a very bohemian, European, and rustic-chic wine bar in Midtown Miami. They host live music on the weekends, serve food, and have ample outdoor space. It’s perfect for a mellow night out with friends and good wine.

Favorite destination to travel?
I love going to Europe. I hope to go back and see more of the UK and would love to see Greece.
