World renowned designer Marcel Wanders doesn’t do anything subtly. The Dutch creative is known for his mastery of all-encompassing environments that evoke fantasy, play, and sophistication. sbe’s first property in the Middle East—Mondrian Doha—perfectly reflects this ethos. Unveiled this month at the world’s biggest design fair, Salone del Mobile, Wanders explained, “We don’t create interiors, we create destinations and Mondrian Doha is a destination in itself that needs to be discovered. Stepping into Mondrian Doha begins the first chapter of a wonderful story that unfolds and presents surprises around every turn.”
With the soft launch of the 270-room hotel this Spring, guests of this stunning space will be immersed in areas that evoke the desert and the rich cultural influences of the region. Think patterned carpets, opulent stained glass, and mosaic tiling, plus an additional layer of luxury from Swarovski crystal chandeliers and bespoke furniture.
Shaped like a falcon—the bird of Qatar—the building itself stands out among the skyline, but that’s just the beginning. Mondrian Doha will boast eight restaurants and bars, including Morimoto, Hudson Tavern, and for something sweet, Magnolia Bakery, made famous by the ladies from Sex and the City. For those visiting for work, lavish conference rooms are plentiful. And those there to relax will be in for a treat at ESPA, a 12-room wellness spa with a traditional Turkish Hamam. Let’s not forget the Moonstone Ballroom, with a 24K gold elevator, and of course the rooftop pool, a perfect escape from the desert heat. For any brides to be, the Bridal Suite at Mondrian Doha has been coined “The Most Decadent Bridal Suite in the World” by Forbes.
“You need never leave this luxurious destination hotel as we have all your desires catered to,” summed up sbe’s founder and CEO, Sam Nazarian.
