1. Umami Burger was named #3 on TimeOut’s roundup of the Best Food Chains in America.
2. Umami Burger has teamed up with “walking food dictionary” and TV celebrity chef, Alton Brown to create the ultimate breakfast burger “U” can eat any time of the day.
We chatted with the Umami Burger team to get the inside scoop on how The Alton Burger came to be, and what makes it so delicious:
All of us at Umami Burger have been super fans of Good Eats, Iron Chef America and Cutthroat Kitchen for a long time, so when it came time to brainstorm a new Artist Series collaboration, Alton Brown was a natural fit! It has been a pleasure working with Alton and his team.
The Alton Burger itself is a tribute to a classic southern breakfast. It is made with a special beef patty, which includes Umami Burger’s signature beef blend mixed with bacon lardons. The burger is topped with cheddar cheese, miso-maple bacon, smashed cheesy tots (the secret is out!), a fried egg, fried sage, and a house-made coffee ketchup created by AB himself. What’s fun about the burger (besides every single ingredient in it) is when The Alton Burger is brought to the table, your server will plunge a knife right through the center of the egg yolk, so that it drips down mixing through all the layers.
