Vance Joy took the stage in rainy Hollywood on January 30th and the clouds parted just in time for the Australian songwriter to belt out hits like “Mess Is Mine” and “Riptide” from his debut album Dream Your Life Away. The intimate show took place at The Library at the Redbury Hotel, hosted by ALT 98.7, kicking off the first #TheRedburySessions. The playful, acoustic, five-song set was just a taste of what fans will see when the easy-on-the-eyes-rocker opens up for Taylor Swift on her upcoming 1989 tour.

When the music was over, Vance Joy—whose real name is James Keough—had a meet and greet with fans. He let us in on some personal details like how he came up with his moniker: Vance Joy is a character in the Australian storybook “Bliss” by Peter Carey. He also told us if there’s anyone he’d share the stage with, it would be his two biggest influences, Bob Dylan or George Harrison.

We can’t wait to see more of Vance Joy’s ukulele skills in the future. To learn about other shows like this at The Library check back HERE, follow us on Facebook, and and stay tuned for more from #TheRedburySessions.
