Las Vegas natives/international superstars Imagine Dragons are on fire right now. With Smoke + Mirrors, their brand new album, a glittering new video for “Gold” and tour dates around the world there’s almost nothing left to the imagination for these guys. We caught up with the band right after our #ImagineSLS activation and talked all things smoke, mirrors and more.

So let’s talk about the album. Did Vegas inspire you?

We’re excited to have new music to play after being out there with Night Visions for so long. We played every one of those songs every way we possibly could. Where you’re from always inspires you, it’s the core of the band. It’s where you’re from and where you’ve been…it’s a mixture of those two things.

You guys used to play at O’Sheas on The Strip and now you’re playing a sold-out show at The Joint, what does that feel like?

Well, first of all, it’s more expensive beer. You can’t get 2 dollar beers here. Trust us.

Seriously, this is a dream come true. As a band starting out in Las Vegas this is where you dream of playing. The first time we shared this stage we were the first of three opening for Interpol, then we got to open for Weezer. Then we got to have our own show. This is our town, this is our stage.

Speaking of your town – what are your top 3 secret spots in Las Vegas?

Kiss Mini Golf, glow in the dark mini dark that’s Kiss themed. The Pinball Hall of Fame and Lotus of Siam – best Thai food maybe in the world.

Did you know Lotus of Siam is next to a sex club? We found that out on accident…

Yes, The Green Door. Every time we go eat we want to poke our heads in but we don’t want to poke our heads in before we eat and then when we’re done we still don’t really want to poke our heads in.

You don’t feel sexy after two plates of crispy garlic shrimp. You do feel really full and satisfied though. It’s an amazing restaurant, we really can’t say enough about Lotus of Siam.

Favorite dish?

Full disclosure – if you are going to Lotus of Siam, get the Northern Thai Style Curry Crispy Duck with the Egg Noodles. Boom.
