We, of course, love a great hotel. But sometimes sleeping under the stars is the perfect antidote to the daily hustle. With Labor Day coming up this weekend, and many hotspots booked up well in advance, the weekend offers a great opportunity to channel your outdoorsman and woman and camp out. Below, the best spots around the country to enjoy the last days of summer and get your nature fix:

Where: Adirondacks Lakes Region Island Camping, NY
Why we love it: When most people think of New York, nature isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. But in fact, New York boasts some of the best climbing and hiking trails in the US, plus incredible freshwater lakes all around the mountains.
Pro tip: Check out Saranac Lake, a camping area proclaiming to be “the Adirondacks’ coolest place.”

Where: Grand Canyon National Park, AZ
Why we love it: It’s the Grand Canyon! One of the most stunning landscapes in the world is also a campers’ paradise, so pitch your tent and enjoy the view.
Pro tip: Most people stop and take pictures at various lookouts, but to really experience the canyon, and all of its beauty, make sure to do at least a short hike into it.

Where: Mount Rainier National Park, WA
Why we love it: If glacial rivers, fishing, and lush greenery are your thing, this is the camping area for you. White River Campground is first come, first serve, with an easy 3-mile round trip hike into the woods nearby.
Pro tip: Bring proper shoes—it can get wet here!

Where: Kalalau Beach, HI
Why we love it: Aaah, the tropics. It’s easy to forget Hawaii, in its tropical splendor, is still part of the US. But it is, and offers some of the easiest, most majestic places to lay your head for the night, all while listening to the ocean coo in the background.
Pro tip: Check out Kalalau Campground for secluded beaches, waterfalls and kayaking close by.

Where: Joshua Tree National Park, CA
Why we love it: Trippy rock formations, desert landscape, cacti, and coyote—it doesn’t get much cooler than Joshua Tree. Jumbo Rocks Campground also takes campers on a first come, first serve basis, so get on the road early to secure a spot.
Pro tip: When all that nature has gone to your head, ease back into civilization by taking advantage of sbe’s labor day cocktail specials: 50% off your first round of specialty drinks at participating LA restaurants.
